The Advantages and Challenges of Cloud Computing Technology

Cloud-Based Applications

Cloud computing is an innovative new technology that many businesses are adopting due to its cost savings, environmental concerns, scalability, mobility, and energy efficiency. Even with the plethora of advantages, cloud computing is not without its disadvantages. Companies should weigh both the advantages and the disadvantages of cloud computing vis-a-vis their own specific business needs before investing in cloud-based applications or platforms.

The Relationship between Platform As A Service and Your Business

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 by Jace Modavi

Enterprise Cloud Computing

Although I know there are some tech geeks who would take issue with this definition, I define “cloud computing” as simply using the Internet to perform computing applications. Enterprise cloud computing? That’s when businesses run their apps and data storage over the ‘net. And Platform as a Service (PaaS) can be thought of as a way of outsourcing your entire computing system—

Lead Generation

Being a salesperson is not easy—I did it for a summer in college, and let me tell you I’ve never worked harder. My hat’s off to sales rock stars, and even those who try their best but aren’t quite closing the deals. In this economy? Forget about it. These days, sales representatives sometimes have to chase almost 20 leads in order to make just one sale.

Enable Your Sales Team to Close Deals With Mobile CRM

Mobile CRM

People from my generation might remember the expression about the early bird getting the worm. Used to be that salespeople literally got up early, hit the road and started visiting clients. These days, things have changed. So how do you become an early bird in the computer era? One way is to adopt trending technologies, like cloud computing, that will enable your sales team to close deals with mobile CRM software.

Sales Force Automation

Today’s businesses are faced with a reality:  budgets must be slashed as much as possible in order to stay alive in today’s economy. However, it’s a customer’s market, which means that increasingly demanding consumers still insist that companies use the latest technology and be able to meet their needs. It can often seem impossible to have things both ways. How can you have effective customer relationship management (CRM) tools yet still stay within your budget? Although it may be hard to believe, the answer lies in custom application development.

Running Your Business in the Cloud

Friday, October 1, 2010 by Jace Modavi

Project Management

Businesses which desire to become mobile, need to reduce costs, or expect to expand rapidly should consider running their business in the cloud.

“I already have a Web site,” you might be saying. “And a Facebook page. What more do I need?”

Well, there’s a difference between being on the Internet, or having an Internet presence, and running your business in the cloud.

How to Manage Your Company Efficiently with Enterprise Cloud Computing

Friday, September 10, 2010 by Jace Modavi

Cloud-Based CRM

OK, true confession time: I’m a bit of a slob. I’m not much for vacuuming, tend to leave dirty dishes in the sink until I need to use them again, and I can’t for the life of me understand the point of making a bed. You’re just gonna crawl back in and mess it up again, aren’t you?

When I was in college, my best friend and I got an apartment together. We were just like the Odd Couple—but because we were friends I tried hard to clean up my act and do my share of the housework. Things worked out fine, but I was awfully happy when I was left alone for a month-long backpacking trip to Europe; I could go back to my slovenly ways. The day before my roommate was due to return from the trip, I kicked it into high gear and cleaned up the whole apartment, and he was none the wiser.

I suspect that more than one owner or manager of a business would discover that similar things happen in their absence. If you are out of town on vacation or traveling to a client’s site, do your employees let things slide? Without access to your data, do you really know?

Is your company just like your competitor’s? Of course not. If it were, you wouldn’t stay in business very long. The Next Generation of Online Collaboration

Online Collaboration

The Internet has spoiled us rotten. It used to be that we had to physically travel, wait days for a letter to arrive, or hold lengthy phone conversations to be able to collaborate with colleagues who were located in a different city. Now we can chat online in real time, send documents via email, and even share videos and PowerPoint presentations. We can video conference. The next step?

Mobile Access Helps You Help Your Customers

Sales Lead Routing

Believe it or not, cell phones have been around for over 20 years. Of course, the first cell phones offered only 30 minutes of talk time before they needed to be recharged, weighed two pounds, and cost almost $4K.

Phones today, of course, are wafer-thin, can take pictures and video, and in some cases don’t even have buttons to push. They fold, swing, slide, play music and come with “apps.” Perhaps most importantly, at least in terms of the business world, is the fact that they can access the Internet—which, with the advent of enterprise cloud computing systems, means that if you have a smartphone you can do business almost anywhere.
